Alia Sabur and her Korean Music Performances and Teaching and with mentors David Weber and Ricardo Morales
The above galleries indicate the momentous accomplishment to be made by prodigal individuals, above the genius Alia Sabur, the youngest Professor in the Guinness Book of Records, achieving a professorship at age 19 and now teaching at Konkuk University in Seoul, Korea. She earned her BS Degree in Applied Mathematics at age 14 from the New York State University at Stoney Brook summe cum Laude, and a PhD from Drexler University in Philadelphia in Applied Sciences and Nanotechnology and active in research in that field. As a Clarinet prodigy, she started Clarinet at age 10 studying with Ricardo Morales, the famed Solo Clarinetist in the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the late David Weber. She appeared on the Today Show acknowledging her incredible talent and hopefully inspiration for all young students who should at every pursuit follow her example to achieve. For these reasons, Dr Sabur was named WKA Student Affairs Chair, and all students are encouraged to contact her for advice and views. Check her special Page on this site- WKA Student Affairs.

Rick Sowash's Holiday gift to clarinet-playing friends
Rick Sowash is a composer who in recent months has written several works including a Clarinet Concerto premiered in Pennsylvania, and a new work written for the Verdehr Trio premiered at the Phillips Collection in Washington DC in December. Checking his website can introduce to many works of note for players. The above piece is a generous contribution for players are welcome to download and enjoy.
Hello friends,
Here is a modest little holiday gift in the form of a new piece by your
favorite clarinet composer (well, one of your favorites, anyway).
It's entitled "Six Variations on 'Love is Little.'"
"Love is little" is a Shaker hymn tune, very sweet. We lullabyed both
our children with this song, way back when they were babies.
The words are very simple but they say a lot:
Love is little. Love is low.
Love will may my spirit grow.
Grow in peace, grow in light.
Love will do the thing that’s right
I wrote this little set of easy variations for my own use.
Unfortunately, I don't play the clarinet; I wrote it to have something I could
play on the recorder. Accordingly, it's very easy, just above a raw beginner's
level.
I hope you'll enjoy tootling your way through it and it might be a piece you'd
want to pass along to your students. Feel free.
Thanks for your interest in and support of my music.

Can you imagine what it's like to sit in one of the front row seats in one of America's finest orchestras for over 60 years?
Well, that's just what Stanley Drucker has done. He has been with the New York Philharmonic for 60 years, becoming principal clarinetist after just a decade with the orchestra. During his tenure, Mr. Drucker has worked with some of the most renowned musicians and conductors in the world, including Leopold Stokowski, Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta, Kurt Masur and Lorin Maazel. Of course, Mr. Drucker is pretty well known himself; he is one of a handful of living orchestral musicians to have an entry in New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians.
On December 14, 2008, Mr. Drucker will be at Wright Music for a meet and greet from 11:00am to 4:00pm. He'll share reminiscences and talk about his passion for music. If we're especially lucky, he may play a little for us and offer some advice about selecting an instrument.
Wright Music will also have on hand instruments from Buffet-Crampon, Besson, and Antoine Courtois. Representatives for these companies will be on hand to answer questions and assist with demonstrations.
Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with one of America's most accomplished orchestral musicians. We'll also have a full range of Buffet clarinets for you to examine and try out.
