West Virginia University (Morgantown) has an opening for a graduate assistantship in clarinet, beginning August 2020

Dear Clarinet Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce that the School of Music at West Virginia University has an opening for a graduate assistantship in clarinet, beginning August 2020. This will be for a highly qualified student working towards a DMA or MM degree. The assistantship duties include performing in the WVU Graduate Wind Quintet, assisting the clarinet studio, and other responsibilities that match up with the student’s skills and interests and the needs of the School of Music. These duties could include teaching aural theory, recording live concerts, large ensemble administration, etc. The Graduate Assistantship includes waiver of full WVU tuition (does not include College of Creative Arts tuition, university fees, or applied fees), a stipend of at least $13,500, and health benefits.

If you have any students or know anyone who might be interested, please ask them to contact me at john.weigand@mail.wvu.edu.

My studio phone number is (304) 293-4893.

Sincerely,

Dr. John Weigand

  • You

Dear Mike,

I hope this finds you well amidst this busy time of the year! I wanted to quickly call your attention to a projected Graduate Assistantship in Clarinet at the University of Delaware’s Department of Music in advance of our application deadline: January 15, 2020. The assistantship typically includes applied lessons for minor and other non-major students, the clarinet portion of woodwind methods, and additional duties as assigned by the department. Our graduate students benefit from tuition remission (up to 100%), stipends, benefits and funding for professional development opportunities including competitions, festivals and conference opportunities.

Our alumni regularly go on to pursue doctoral work at excellent institutions and are gainfully employed through various avenues in the field of music. Our faculty is comprised of remarkable artist teachers in the Mid-Atlantic region who perform with ensembles ranging from the Delaware Symphony to the pit of Aladdin on Broadway.

Our top large instrumental ensembles include the Symphony Orchestra and the Wind Ensemble, both of which tour regionally, nationally and internationally on a regular basis. For example, the UD Symphony Orchestra toured China in Summer 2018 and the Wind Ensemble toured Spain in Summer 2019. Additionally, chamber music is a significant part of our department culture. I invite interested applicants to examine our department webpages: http://www.music.udel.edu.

The city of Newark, Delaware, is located less than an hour from Philadelphia International Airport and the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Opportunities exist to regularly hear the Philadelphia Orchestra and other world class ensembles. Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and New York City are all easily accessible by train or automobile. Our beautiful campus is an integral part of Newark.

If you have any students, friends, colleagues or acquaintances that may be interested, please feel free to share my contact information with them.
