Mozart im Marz Concert with VIP Matthias Mueller

Zurich, Switzerland

Liebe Klarinettistinnen

Dear Clarinetists,

Next Sunday I inaugurate my Clarinetsalon with the most fitting topic: The Period of the Beginning of Clarinet History.

Sunday March 26 - Clarinet ATelieR auf der Forch at 5 pm - Works of  Mozart-Stalder-Mueller

Although the first clarinet was developed by Denner around 1700 in Nürnberg and the first success of the instrument was in Paris the breakthrough was in Vienna. Thanks to Anton Stadler, the virtuoso - Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, the master composer  and Theodor Lotz, the instrumentmaker.

They all met in the Freemason Lodge, a place were the ideals of the enlightenment were celebrated. It was very human and revolutionary democratic. No wonder that this congregation was forbidden by the emperor and hated by the nobility. It was the intellectual center where Mozart got his intellectual inspiration and support.

The Development of the Woodwind Instruments was delayed compared to the Strings and Piano. Only in 20th century they were played as intense. The clarinetist Hans Rudolf Stalder was mainly involved. He cannot assist anymore our concert, but we will play him a little private concert before.

Especially for the interpretation of music of the classical period Stalder was a pioneer. 1. The Revival of authentic historic instruments - 2. the discovery, rebuilding of the original Mozart instrument the Bassetclarinet.

Special mentioning earns  also Harald Strebel, a Swiss clarinet planer and Mozart specialist. He just published a substantial work about the Anton Stadler. He will assist to the first edition of Clarinet Salon Forch.

herzlich / best Matthias
