As many in the world know, the Covid 19 Virus Pandemic has virtually stopped all activity worldwide cancelling Music Festivals, Educational Institutions and more.   During this stressful time, Livestream activity to support this void has shown itself to be a morale support to all watching.  Many quality performances and workshop streams will be posted here as they appear.

Announcing the 23rd Annual Midwest ClariFest at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music on Saturday, April 4, 2020. All events are in the Westbrook Music Recital Hall (#119) in the Glenn Korff School of Music and are free and open to the public; the day begins at 9am (with check in starting at 8:30am) and will conclude by 6pm. 

The day will begin with a recital featuring guest artist Dr. Jeremy Reynolds, Clarinet Professor at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music. Other events feature mid-morning and afternoon master classes for students of all levels with Dr. Reynolds; a lecture entitled “Light and Shadows: Works Highlighting the Timbral Possibilities of the Clarinet Alone” by Dr. Vanessa Davis, adjunct clarinet faculty at Stephen F. Austin State University; a lecture on creating a fundamental practice routine by Dr. Larkin Sanders (owner of the Clever Clarinetist and Midwest D’Addario representative); a lecture TBA by Dr. Lucas Willsie (clarinet instructor at the Swinney Conservatory of Music at Central Methodist University); and a final potpourri recital at the end of the day featuring performances by regional clarinetists. Exhibitors include Declan Lynch, Midwest Buffet Crampon Representative, Lisa Canning from Lisa’s Clarinet Shop, and Larkin Sanders (D’Addario Midwest Representative and Clever Clarinetist owner). The exhibitors will be available throughout the day in WMB #130, so bring some spending money if you are interested in purchasing some wonderful mouthpieces, clarinets, or equipment!

VIP Boris Allakhverdyan (Solo Clarinetist in the Los Angeles Philharmonic) Live Stream Master Class

 

Boris_ABoris Allakhverdyan was appointed Principal Clarinet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2016. He previously served as Principal Clarinet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Associate Principal Clarinet of the Kansas City Symphony. Mr. Allakhverdyan is a founding member of the Prima Trio, the Grand Prize and the Gold Medal winner of the prestigious 2007 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.

Boris Allakhverdyan has appeared as a soloist with the
 Seattle, Bakersfield and Springfield Symphony orchestras. He has participated in the Lucerne Festival Academy in Switzerland, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommen Festival in Germany and the Emilia Romagna Music Festival in Italy. Mr. Allakhverdyan is a winner of Rimsky-Korsakov International Woodwind Competition, Rozanov International Clarinet Competition, Hellam Concerto Competition, the Tuesday Musical and the Oberlin Concerto competitions.

An active educator, Mr. Allakhverdyan served on faculty at the
 Peabody Conservatory, Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan, Interlochen Clarinet Institute in Michigan and Philadelphia International Music Festival. He has given master classes at Manhattan and Mannes Schools of Music, USC, UCLA, Oberlin Conservatory, Oregon University, University Missouri-Kansas City, Truman State University, Colorado Music Festival, Latin American Clarinet Academy in Caracas, Venezuela and Shenzhen International Music Festival in Shenzhen, China. As a chamber musician, Boris Allakhverdyan has performed throughout the United States and Europe on such series as Chicago Chamber Music Society, La Jolla Athenaeum, Dumbarton Oaks, the Dayton Art Institute, CityMusic Columbus, Da Camera Society, Fontana Chamber Arts and Cleveland Chamber Music Society

Ricardo Morales is one of the most sought after clarinetists of today. He joined The Philadelphia Orchestra as principal clarinet in 2003. Prior to this he was principal clarinet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, a position he assumed at the age of 21, under the direction of James Levine. His virtuosity and artistry as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician has been hailed and recognized in concert halls around the world. He has performed as guest principal clarinetist several times with the New York Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony, and at the invitation of Sir Simon Rattle, performed as guest principal clarinet with the Berlin Philharmonic. He also performs as principal clarinet with the Saito Kinen Festival Orchestra, at the invitation of Seiji Ozawa. Read more
