Cleveland Heights High School Music Department Fundraiser Party/Concert event at Night Town with Cleveland Orchestra members performing Mozart Wind Quintet with Piano K452



On March 1, 2020, the parent organization for the Cleveland Heights High School Band & Orchestra (BOPO) will host a fundraiser, A Musical Feast, at Nighttown Restaurant.

The event will include a scrumptious brunch and an auction and will feature live music performed by our own Heights High musicians alongside Cleveland Orchestra members and other professional musicians. There will be a special performance of the Mozart piano/wind quintet played by Cleveland Orchestra musicians who are also Heights residents:

    • Gareth Thomas, Bassoon
    • Richard King, French Horn
    • Carolyn Gadiel Warner, Piano

All proceeds will go toward funding the Heights High Instrumental Department, including our annual tour.

The American Chamber Ensemble, celebrating its 54th Anniversary, will present Music of the Americas: Part 2 this Sunday, March 8 at 3 PM at Hofstra University's Monroe Lecture Center Theater, California Avenue in Hempstead, NY, presented by the University’s Music Department.
 
Music of the Americas: Part 2 will present the second part of ACE's season-long exploration of the music of North and South America, as well as those who emigrated to this country, including ACE commissioned works by contemporary composers Andres Maldonado (Hofstra faculty) and Edward Thomas, as well as the U.S.’s Dana Wilson, Argentina’s Astor Piazzolla, Mexico’s Manuel Ponce and Canada’s Srul Irving Glick. It will be a multi-media presentation, making for an immersive experience, introducing the concertgoer to a different way to experience the performances.
 
Performers will include ACE members, pianist Marilyn Lehman, clarinetist and assistant ACE Director Mindy Dragovich, violinists Eriko Sato and Sunghae Anna Lim, violist Lois Martin and cellist Chris Finckel. Special guests will be soprano Karen Lehman DiMartino, The ACE Clarinet Ensemble, the East End Women's Choir, directed by Kamilla Ozman and Hofstra Student Award winner, soprano Miranda Wysocki.

Juan Ferrer (Montserrat, Valencia, 1968) is one of the most multifaceted and active Spanish clarinetists of his generation and the first Spanish to be part of the judges of the prestigious Tchaikovsky contest of Moscow of the contest of ghent, in the international contest of Buffet Buffet for Asia and Pacific, Belgium, Versailles-France, San José-Costa Rica.. in which it has also offered recitals and master classes, a pedagogical work that develops with students from all over the world and in universities and conservatories of Belgium (Brussels), Russia (Moscow), China (Beijing), Taiwan (Taipei), Colombia, Brazil, Paraguay, France, Portugal, Argentina and Spain that has recently been endorsed by the invitation to participate as a teacher for the musicalsimón bolivar foundation And as a clarinet soloist of the simón bolívar orchestra, who directed Gustavo Dudamel, with three annual meetings from the 2017-18. He has been invited by the orchestra of the radio of Leipzig, orchestra of the liceu of Barcelona, the palau de Les Arts in Valencia, Madrid Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of catalonia or the orchestra of rtve among many others and has worked on orders Of some of the most prestigious batons: Lorin Maazel, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Harding, sir Neville Marriner, osmo vänskä, gennady rozdestvenski, Peter Maag, Andrés Orozco Estrada, Christian Vasquez, dima slobodeniouk, gianandrea noseda, Jesus López Cobos, stanislaw scrowaczewski , Christoph Eschenbach, James Conlon, juanjo mena or Alberto Zedda among many others.

Invited by judges from all over the world, Juan Ferrer focuses his pedagogical work especially in the young orchestra gso, young symphony orchestra of euskadi and young National Symphony of catalonia. In addition, he usually provides courses in China, Taiwan, Russia, Spain France, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Belgium, and at the international clarinet meeting of Argentina (Buenos Aires), in addition to participating as a Spanish artist in the Five Editions of the ibero-American Clarinet Academy. He just recorded a record with pianist Daniel Del Pino with works dedicated to him by international renowned authors: Salvador Brotóns, karolis biveini. Octavio Vázquez, Vladimir Rosinsky, Fernando Buide, Juan Durán, Eduardo Soutullo, etc..

John a. Ferrer started his musical studies in the musical society of montserrat and continued them at the conservatory of Valencia, where he obtained the title of clarinet teacher with the highest Ratings (honor tuition). He took the upper grade at the conservatory joaquín Rodrigo of Valencia, also with the highest Ratings and the mention of honor unanimously in the end of career award.

Parallel study with teachers José Vicente Herrera, Larry passin, Andrew Marriner, Alan Damiens, Walter Boeykens, Anthony Gigliotti, guy deplus, jehuda gilad, etc.

In February 1993 he was selected by professor jehuda gilad and obtained a scholarship to study at the university of Southern California (USA).
